A move-in can also be referred to as a Resident Orientation. The Resident Orientation is the process of reviewing the move-in paperwork with your new resident. The orientation could take place on the actual day of move-in, or prior to the scheduled move-in date. Here are a few tips for conducting a Resident Orientation:
- Schedule an appointment and allow at least 30 minutes to review all documents.
- Focus highly on the lease buyout clause. (if applicable)
- Focus on the Wear and Tear provision.
- Place heavy focus on three expectations:
1. Paying amounts due and honoring the agreement.
2. Being respectful towards others.
3. Avoiding damages to the premises.
Before the resident takes possession of their new apartment, it is suggested that you thoroughly inspect the apartment. Always schedule a cleaning “touch-up” the day before their move-in so their apartment is fresh and call the new resident at least two days prior to the move-in to confirm the date and time. Most important, check all keys, and if they have a garage, make sure the remote works!
